What Fixik is and where the project stands
Fixik is meant to bring together people who need small everyday help and helpers from their area. The idea, how it works and where things stand now.
Fixik is a platform for small everyday help. Whoever needs help describes the task; helpers from the neighbourhood respond. This is how it is meant to work and how far the project has come.
The idea
Assembling a shelf, trimming the hedge, clearing out the cellar, setting up the new phone: tasks like these don't call for a big commission, but for someone nearby who has the time and knows how. Fixik is meant to bring both sides together – people who need help and people who can help.
How a task works
- Describe the task: what, where, by when.
- Helpers from the neighbourhood respond with an offer.
- Choose one and settle the details in the chat.
- After the work, both sides confirm that everything has been taken care of.
Where the project stands
Fixik is under development and has not launched yet. The web app is already running at fixik.de (External link), currently with sample data for testing. The Kelheim district in Lower Bavaria is planned as the first region.
What comes next
Before launch, Fixik needs enough helpers in the first region. A task that nobody responds to would be the worst experience such a platform can offer. That is why Fixik starts small: in one district instead of the whole of Bavaria.
In the Fixik diary I write down how things are going.
